By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
On January 11, 2010, the UCPN-Maoist has held rallies against the Indian encroachment on the Nepalese territory at five different southern frontier areas following the fourth round of their movement against the President’s unconstitutional move on directly writing a letter to the army chief.
Speaking at a rally in Dhangadi, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has said that the President has made unconstitutional move, and did not visit China to attend the Olympic games in August 2008 following the order coming out of the country; similarly, the army chief has disobeyed his government following the same order from outside the country.
Prachanda has also said that his party would not allow anybody encroaching on even an inch of Nepali, and Nepal will not encroach on an inch of foreign land, and would resolve the border dispute diplomatically. India has been encroaching on 60,000 hectares of Nepalese territory.
He also has said that he wants to review all unequal treaties including the Nepal-India Treaty of 1950, and ease the unequal trade balance with India.
Border experts have said that the Government of India has deployed 100,000 armed border security forces along the border with Nepal. The Border Security Forces have been harassing the Nepalis living in the frontier areas and commuting between Nepal and India.
