By KTM Metro Reporter

September 20, 2011: seismologists have been happy with the earthquake that hit Nepal and Northern India on Sunday evening, as it has reminded the Nepalis chances of occurring such natural disaster are high but sorry for the loss of lives and damages done to the properties, ‘Gorkhapatra’ of today writes.

Seismologists say that Nepalis have either forgotten the possible occurrence of earthquake of the magnitude of the earthquake of 1934 that could cause loss of lives of several thousands in the Kathmandu Valley or they have ignored such possibility. So, the earthquake of last Sunday has been the reminder to the Nepalis that they need to keep vigilant and prepare for the worst case of earthquake.

Even the earthquake of the magnitude of 6.8 could cause considerable damages to the lives and property in the Kathmandu Valley if its epicenter has been close to the Kathmandu Valley, seismologists say. The damage done to the Kathmandu Valley due to the Sunday earthquake has been minimum because its epicenter has been far away in the east.
