Chinese High-profile Delegation In Nepal

August 17, 2011: member of the Standing Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC) and also secretary to the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, Zhou Yongkang with 60-member strong delegation has arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday for a three-day visit, as the part of a five-nation trip.
The news posted on the chinadaily.com.cn today says that spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Ma Zhaoxu has said that China hopes the political parties in Nepal will seek consensus through dialogue. "China appreciates Prime Minister Khanal's commitment to the development of the China-Nepal relationship during his term," spokesman Ma said in a statement. He also has said that China values the friendship and cooperation between the two countries following the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.
In a written statement released upon his arrival in Kathmandu, Zhou has said that he looks forward to exchanging views on China-Nepal ties, inter-party relations and mutual concerns with leaders of the Nepalese government and political parties.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, the Chinese delegation headed by Zhou has met with the Nepali Congress leaders at a hotel. In the meeting, Zhou has said his country wishes a peaceful, stable and prosperous Nepal, and is willing to have bilateral ties at the party and people levels according to the news posted on ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today.
Zhou also has met with leaders of UCPN-Maoist. In the meeting, Zhou has said that China wants the completion of the peace process and the constitution writing.
In response to the Chinese concern, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has said that the peace process and the constitution writing are moving ahead except for a few controversial issues.
Zhou also has met with caretaker Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal today. Mr. Khanal has assured the high-profile Chinese delegation headed by Zhou of no matter who heads the government, Nepal will continue its one-China policy means Tibet and Taiwan are the integral parts of China.
