NC Leaders for Imposing Presidential Rule

Issue 46, November 15, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

The Nepalese media have reported that Vice-chairman of Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist and Leninist (CPN-UML) has said that some Nepali Congress (NC) leaders have asked his party leadership for dissolving the Constituent Assembly (CA) and imposing a presidential rule and then forming a Constitutional Commission for writing a new constitution, as the constitution written by the current CA would be dominated by the Maoists.

However, spokesperson for the NC Arjun Narsingh KC and NC Parliamentary Leader Ram Chandra Poudel have said that none of the NC leaders could say such things. They have said that such a senior leader of the CPN-UML saying such irresponsible things has actually wanted to tarnish the image of the NC.
