Nepalese Young Parliamentarians Visiting India

March 2, 2012: According to the statement issued by the Indian embassy in Kathmandu, fourteen young members of the Nepalese parliament representing seven different political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML, Madheshi People’s Rights Forum-Democratic, Madhesi People’s Rights Forum-Nepal, Terai Madhes Democratic Party, and Rastriya Prajatantrik Party are visiting India as part of the Young Parliamentarians exchange program of the Government of India.
The objective of the visit of the Nepalese young parliamentarians to India is sharing experiences, and exchanging views on strengthening democratic norms and generating fresh ideas to strengthen bilateral relations and mutual understanding between Nepal and India.
In New Delhi, the fourteen member delegation attends a special session on parliamentary practices held by the Bureau of Parliamentary studies and Training to give insights into urban planning. They will call on the Speaker of Lok Sabha Mrs. Meira Kumar, opposition leader Mrs. Sushma Swaraj and interact with the members of India- Nepal parliamentary Friendship group. The delegation has left Kathmandu for New Delhi. The eight-day visit to India starts on Saturday at the invitation of the Indian government.
They also will visit Agra where they will familiarize with the tourism development initiatives. In Bangalore, they will see the functioning of federal legislature and visit Indian Institute of Management, Wipro Campus.
