Deuba Challenging NC President Sushil Koirala

Issue 34, August 19, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

August 15, 2012: dissatisfied with only 16 out of 42 offices of different departments, senior leader of NC Sher Bahadur Deuba has ordered his supporters to quit the offices given by the party president Sushil Koirala that must have thought that the Deuba camp deserved only that number. Deuba in turn wanted to show his strength not less than that of the party president demanding the half of the total offices the president could award. So, 16 office holders supporting the cause of Deuba returned the offices to the party president.

Altogether 16 heads of the recently constituted departments and zonal committees had jointly submitted their resignations to President of NC Sushil Koirala at the party headquarters in Sanepa today afternoon.

Clearly, the NC is not a single party but a coalition of two different political parties: one led by Koirala and another by Deuba. How Mr. Sushil Koirala would build a consensus with the ruling coalition of the UCPN-Maoist and UDMF when he could not build a consensus of the two factions in his party.

At the meeting held at the residence of Deuba yesterday, members of the Deuba party of NC had decided to quit the offices given by the President of NC Koirala back to him charging Koirala with discriminating against the Deuba faction of the NC party.
