Krishna Prasad Bhattarai’s Political Statement

Issue 14, April 4, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

March 29, 2010: in a statement released in Kathmandu on March 28, 2010, Former Prime Minister for two terms and Former NC President Krishna Prasad Bhattarai has said that under any circumstances a new constituent could not be promulgated on May 28, 2010, so it is necessary to revive the Constitution of Nepal of 1990 that has the provision for the constitutional monarchy.

Mr. Bhattarai has been the staunch supporter of the monarchy and has quit his NC party refusing to accept the amendment to the statute of his party for making the provision for making Nepal a republic replacing the provision for the constitutional monarchy. So, it is not surprising that such a person going against the people’s aspiration for a federal democratic republic and giving the statement in support of the monarchy. It is only the tactics of the regressive forces that have been attempting to revive the dead monarchy.

Mr. Bhattarai has never been a successful personality and has been a weak in his own NC party in the past. So, such a persons needs to live under the patron of somebody. So he chose the patron of the dead monarchy. If he were to continue attempting the revival of the dead monarchy Nepalis would certainly bury him with the corpse.
