Keep A Cool Head Mr. Prime Minister

Issue 01, January 6, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

January 1, 2013: concerning the live airing of the Radio Talk held with the NC-second-generation leader Manmohan Bhattarai that has heaped some criticism on the prime minister that instead of taking all the criticism coolly he has damned and blasted the program operators for airing such things, according to the Nepalese media reports.

However, the prime minister needs to welcome all criticisms if he really wanted to be a real democratic prime minister. Nobody is going to believe all the criticisms until the criticizer or the prime minister proves or disproves those criticisms. Such criticisms are blessing in disguise for any elected officials.

So, the prime minister needs to thank the program operators for showing the courage to directly airing the things that goes against you because thanking for such things publicly enhances the prime minister’s status but taking actions against them would certainly bring the prime minister down to the earth.

If the prime minister doesn’t take back any actions stated to-be-taken against the Radio Nepal program operators, every reporter including this reporter will stand against such action and fight to the finish. Freedom of expression is the strongest pillar of democracy. Nobody wants to see it weakened.
