Public Account Committee Summons Sujata Again

Issue 11, March 14, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

March 13, 2010: the Legislative Public Account Committee (PAC) has summoned Deputy Prime Minister holding the portfolio of foreign affairs Sujata Koirala to be at PAC on March 21 for questioning about her comments on the members of the PAC and inquiring about the status of printing machine-readable passports (MRPs).

In her anger, Madam Koirala has said that the PAC is made up of the bunch of undemocratic and corrupt members after the PAC has instructed her ministry to follow the bidding process for printing MRPs transparently when Madam Koirala has been insisting on printing MRPs in India.

The PAC has rejected the Ministry of Foreign Affairs´ request for the approval of the PAC for printing MRPs in India and has stuck on its decision on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the bidding process for printing MRPs.
