Leaders Of Three Major Parties Continue To Talk

Issue 50, December 13, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On December 8, 2009, members of the task force of the three major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML have continued to talk without any significant achievement. The leaders of these three parties have set up a task force on December 7, 2009 when they have talked to each other apparently to stop any confrontation after the Maoists have shut down the entire country on Sunday, December 6, 2009 protesting against the killing of the unarmed people by the heavily armed police force in the Kailali district.

Every political leader says that the consensus politics is inevitable but nobody willing to step back from his original position. Some leaders have been telling that these leaders are not willing to surrender to the Maoists anymore even though their arguments are correct and need to follow if you are really talking abut democracy. For example, the Maoists have been demanding to debate the unconstitutional action of the President at the legislature, however, the so-called leaders of the democratic parties have been disagreeing on it and bringing the political deadlock. In this circumstance, confrontation between the democratic-minded people and unprincipled rulers is inevitable no matter how long they continue to talk.
