Budget Failed To Give FNCSI An Access To Finance

Issue 29, July 21, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

July 19, 2013: Speaking at an event to discuss the budget, president of Federation of Nepalese Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) Suresh Pradhan said that the budget has failed to give the micro, cottage and small industries an access to finance; the government needs to provide these industries with an access to finance through the SME Financing and refinancing in the upcoming monetary policy, according to the news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’

“Access to finance is the major problems of the micro, cottage and small industries. So the government should provide this sector with an access to finance for enhancing the capacities of cottage industries,” he said.

President Pradhan has said that the weakness of the budget is it has failed in introducing clear policies and programs on the export promotion, import substitution and promotion of micro, cottage and small industries to control the widening trade deficit.

The budget has failed to encourage entrepreneurs to establish, develop and expand cottage and small industries by offering special subsidies, he said. He has blamed that the budget has not included the suggestions given by the FNCSI for the promotion and development of micro, cottage and small industries even though the cottage and small industries are a foundation for the country's development.
