May 10, 2013: the state-run Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has held the Fifth National Tourism Fair 2013 at Bhirkutimandap Exhibition Hall in Kathmandu starting today and ending on May 12, 2013 with the objective of promoting domestic tourism, creating awareness of tourism and disseminating tourism related information, according to ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’

This event is a common platform to all kinds of tourism organizations and institutions to interact with each other and promote their businesses, said Lila Baniya senior manager of NTB. As the tourism could not be a sustainable business unless attractive packages are offered, this event will also be crucial to formulate new packages, and acknowledge about the available tour packages, he said.

NTB says a total of 110 stalls of tourism institutions, government and non-governmental organizations, district development committees, tourism development committees, trusts and development committees, tourism publications, tourism associations, tourism corporations will exhibit their packages during the three-day exhibition.

Information on various home-stays operating across the country, visual and photographic information about the established and new tourism destinations, documentary shows of tourism destinations and cultural demonstrations of various ethnic communities from far east to far west would be the main attractions in the exhibition.

For diversifying tourism activities across the country, the NTB also held three regional level Tourism Exhibitions: one each in Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj and Dhankuta
