Issue 14, April 05, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On March 30, 2009, in a meeting held in Kathmandu, representatives of the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist and Leninist (CPN-UML) and the United Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-Maoist) agreed on setting up a joint commission on investigating the killing of the CPN-UML cadres in Butwal and then the CPN-UML cadres vandalizing the offices of the UCPN-Maoist, its sister organizations and the private homes of the cadres of the UCPN-Maoist in Butwal.

The CPN-UML leaders and its cadres have been charging the cadres of the UCPN-Maoist for killing the cadres of the CPN-UML, and even hinted to pull out of the government for that matter. However, Prime Minister Prachanda, the Maoist leaders and cadres have been denying any involvement of their cadres in killing the CPN-UML cadres, and assured the CPN-UML of holding an impartial investigation into the killing and bringing the culprits to justice.
