Tamsaling Shutdown

Issue 24, June 14, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On June 7, 2009, the local administration has imposed a curfew on both sides of the Arniko Highway starting from Sanga and ending at 28 kilometer covering the Banepa town after the local people have fought back the callers of shutdown and damaged the office of the United Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist in Banepa.

Tamang National Freedom Front affiliated to the Maoists has called for a shutdown of the Tamsaling Area protesting the unconstitutional step of interfering in the government’s affairs ordering the Chief of Army Staff fired by the government to stay on in the job. The Tamsaling Area comprises almost all the districts in the central region.
