Nepali Congress Leaders Against Sujata’s Nomination
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
On June 3, 2009, some disgruntled Nepali Congress leaders sat together at their party office, Sanepa, Kathmandu and decided to request President Girija Prasad Koirala for reconsidering the nomination of his daughter for the position of team leader of NC members joining the government.
Acting President Sushil Koirala, Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel, General secretaries such as Prakash Man Singh, Bimalendra Nidhi and Gopal Man Shrestha attended the meeting. Acting President Sushil Koirala thinks that NC cadres throughout the country have disagreed the nomination of Sujata to the head of the NC team joining the government, and other political leaders also have not found it comfortable, and so he will request President Koirala to reconsider his decision on nominating Sujata to the team leader.
Obviously, NC President Girija Prasad Koirala has not listened to them and has stuck to his decision on nominating the NC team under the leadership of Sujata Koirala for joining the coalition government. However, NC President Koirala has wisely included junior leaders in the team so that they will not have problem of accepting the less important ministerial portfolios.
