Madheshi People’s Rights Forum’s Stand

Issue 20, May 17, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On Saturday, May 9, 2009, Madheshi People’s Rights Forum (MPRF) disclosed its decision on supporting the political party for forming a new government stating it will support the party for a new government that is for ‘One Madhesh One Province’ it has been fighting for.

The stand of the MPRF on supporting the party for forming a new government might send the agenda of the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist and Leninist (CPN-UML) to astray, as its Chairman Jhalanath Khanal has been deadly against the ‘One Madhesh One Province’.

Similarly, the Nepali Congress (NC) leaders also have been against ‘One Madhesh One Province’. So, they also will not receive the support of the MPRF for forming a majority government.

None of the NC and the CPN-UML will be able to form a majority government without the support of the MPRF. So, if their stand on rejecting the demand of the MPRF for ‘One Madhesh One Province’ continues they will not be able to form a new government without the Maoists.
