Internet Link With China via Hong Kong
Thanks to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nepal has optical fiber connectivity with China via Hong Kong bandwidth; and it has come into operation on Friday, January 12, 2018 through the Rasuwagadhi border point.
Prime Minister Modi had imposed sanction on Nepal in 2015 for over four months to bend Nepal to his wishes but Nepalese did not bend rather stood as upright as possible even tolerating immense sufferings brought by the shortage of fuels and foods, and medicines and what not. Managing Director of NT Kamini Rajbhandari said that the optical fiber linkage with China would help enhance the accessibility and credibility of the company’s services, the news stated.
Previously, Nepal has heavily depended on India for Internet, as all internet connections came via three access points India’s Bharti Airtel and Tata Communications provided through southern towns such as Bhairahawa, Biratnagar and Birgunj, the news in “South China Morning Post” stated on January 13, 2018.
