Bye-Bye Ram Chandra Poudel
By KTM Metro Reporter
January 21, 2011: obviously, NC leaders have abandoned Ram Chandra Poudel: the unfortunate candidate for prime minister for the new process of electing a prime minister because NC leaders have decided to put forward a new candidate rather than the same candidate that has failed to receive adequate votes even in the 16th round of election to a prime minister in the recent past.
At the same time, after taking a hit from his own cadre, Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal has also abandoned his stance on forming a consensus government and has started off talking about a majority government.
According to the news item carried by the online ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today, Devi Prasad Regmi claiming to be the party’s worker from Bharaul VDC has hit Khanal as a punishment for pushing the nation to the current deadlock and for taking wrong people in the party. The CPN-UML cadres have enforced the traffic shutdown today protesting against Chairman taking the hit and demanding investigation into the incident and bringing the culprit to justice.
The three major political parties UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML have not been able to agree on a consensus candidate for a new prime minister by the time the deadline for working on a consensus candidate has expired today, and have requested the president for another five more days for working on the consensus politics. President Yadav has graciously approved their request. So, they can go on working for forming a consensus government for another five days. If they cannot do so even by the extended time then they will have to elect a new prime minister by majority votes.
