US Removing Nepal Maoists From Its Terror Watch-list

October 2, 2011: US Congressman Steve Chabot has said in Kathmandu yesterday that the US is removing the Nepal Maoists from its terrorist watch-list after it completes the peace process and drafts a new constitution. After the meeting with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattara, Head of Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Middle East and South Asia in the US Congress, Chabot said, "I am confident that we can remove the terrorist tag on the Maoists once Nepal gets lasting peace and Constitution."

The Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist is not on the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations but it is on the Terrorism Exclusion List pursuant to the Immigration and Nationality Act, US State Department.
