Defaulters Of Value Added Tax

issue 45, November 6, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

November 1, 2011: the government of Nepal has made the report on the defaulters of the Value Added Tax (VAT) stating the so-called large business and industry Houses have submitted fake VAT bills and cheated the government on VAT. Current and former finance ministers have labeled them as the financial criminals. Current finance minister has assured the public of taking strong actions against the financial criminals.

Large business and industry Houses have been in the category of financial criminals. According to the news published in the state-run newspaper ‘gorkhapatra’ they have put pressure on the bureaucrats and the minister and even the political leaders not to publicize their names and not take any actions on the VAT defaulters.

These leaders of large business and industry Houses have been very smart to label the bureaucrats and politicians corrupt but they have shown their real images and they are not much different from any dirty corrupt bureaucrats and politicians.

All these corrupt businesspersons and industrialists, bureaucrats and politicians are responsible for all the political instability, impunity and poverty in the country. They have illegally amassed large wealth making the majority of the people poor.
