By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On august 19, 2009, Nepalese Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has met with the Indian leaders.

In a two-hour meeting, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Nepalese Prime Minister Madhav Nepal have discussed several issues such as extradition treaty, border, Pancheswor project, Nepal India Trade treaty and so on. However, they have not come to a definite conclusion. They are going to meet again on August 20, 2009, and then make a joint statement that will state their agreements, the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of August 20, 2009 wrote.

In the meeting with the Nepalese Prime Minister, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said that India would help Nepal in completing the peace process and in writing a new constitution. However, most of the Nepalis believe that Indian ambassador Rakesh Sood is responsible for the current political deadlock that has stalled the peace process and the writing of a new constitution causing the fall of the Prachanda-led government and then installing the Madhav-led government.

Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has met with the Chairperson of United Progressive Alliance Sonia Gandhi at her residence. In a 40-minute long meeting, Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has said that India has also a coalition government, is running the government smoothly; so Nepal should also not face any problems of running a coalition government.

In a meeting with the President of India, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has presented the invitation of the Nepalese President to the Indian President to visit Nepal.
