Power-cut for Eleven Hours A Day

Issue 05, January 31, 2010

BY KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

Starting on January 28, 2010, the state-run utility company called Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has introduced power-cut for 11 hours a day saying the low levels of water in the rivers supplying water for driving turbines at hydroelectric plants could not produce electricity at full capacities.

Shame on Minister for Energy Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, as he has done nothing during the last nine months of taking the office for adding even a single unit of electricity. He was one of the main critics of the past government for not being able to mitigate the power-cut. Now, he has been the Minister for Power-cut, and would continue to cut the power until all Nepalis have to remain in darkness. After all he has nothing to lose.

After taking the office, Dr. Praksh mahat has said that he would not let increase the power cut more than 10 hours a week in other words slightly more than an hour a day but he has proved himself to be a liar letting NEA enforce eleven hours a day power-cut.
