PADT Victim Of No Working Government

Issue 08, February 20, 2011

By KT Metro Reporter

February 18, 2011: in absence of concerned minister, the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has been unable to set up a Mahashivratri Management Committee to manage the pilgrims coming to visit Lord Pashupati at Gaushala in Kathmandu during the celebration of the festival of descent of Lord Shiva on earth; the main day of the celebration of this festival is on March 02, 2011 this year, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

Pilgrims start coming to this area from different parts of Nepal and from other Hindu world a fortnight before this day called Mahashivratri that falls on March 02 this year to make offerings to Lord Shiva called Pashupati in Kathmandu.

The PADT has to provide Hindu holy men and women called Sadhus with foods and other logistics for four days before the Mahashivratri and four days after it. The PADT has to provide the Sadhus with even hashish to smoke even though it is banned to smoke in Nepal, firewood to burn for keeping them warm as they stay in the open area exposing their naked bodies to the chilly winter days, and return bus fare.

In addition, the PADT needs to manage for hundreds of thousands of Hindu pilgrims coming from all over the Hindu world to make offerings to Lord Pashupati safely without any problems. Every pilgrim wants to catch at least a glimpse of Lord Pashupati. So, they need to be in the temple to watch the lord sitting in the inner sanctum of the temple.
