February 22, 2011: Normal life in Indian-administered Kashmir has been paralyzed by a shutdown to protest against the detention of a prominent separatist leader in Delhi. Syed Ali Shah Geelani was in the Indian capital for medical treatment. He was scheduled to return on Tuesday. But police say they want to question him about illegal money transfers.
Mr Geelani's spokesman, Ayaz Akber, said the separatist leader was being falsely implicated by the police. The call to protest has had an overwhelming response with most shops closed and traffic suspended, the BBC's Altaf Hussain in Srinagar says.
