Nepali Congress Held Mass Rally In Kathmandu

Issue 21, May 22, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

May 21, 2011: the Nepali Congress leaders have held a mass rally in Kathmandu yesterday as the part of creating awareness of the current political situation among the people with the slogan of peace and constitution. In the rally a number of the Nepali Congress leaders spoke and they expressed their concerns for the current political situation.

The slogan ‘peace and constitution’ is the correct one but the leaders need to do for the peace and constitution rather than shouting at the rally. However, their intention and deeds have been just the opposite, as they are not willing to extend the term of the Constituent Assembly (CA) for a year to complete the peace process and crafting of a new constitution they had left unfinished not doing anything to complete those two noble tasks during the 20-month coalition government of the NC, CPN-UML and the Madheshi political parties.

Now, the NC leaders have put forward a 10-point demand for extending the term of the CA for completing the peace process; the leaders of the coalition government say that the 10-point demand is just the excuse the NC leaders have put forward not to extend the term of the CA, as it is impossible to meet the demand during such a short period of time.
