By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

The state-run newspaper ‘The Rising Nepal’ of February 01, 2008 stated that Vice President of the Nepali Congress (NC) and Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Minister Ram Chandra Paudel said on Thursday, January 31 that the NC would ask Minister without portfolio Sujata Koirala for clarification about her remarks on the monarchy. “It is not good to speak in support of the suspended monarchy by a minister of a democratic government," he said at a press conference held by Nepal Press Union in Baglung. The monarchy now exists only in museum, he said. Minister Sujata Koirala had said that the monarchy as a cultural heritage was still necessary, and she is for reviving the Constitution of Nepal of 1990 that had made the multi-party democracy and the constitutional monarchy irremovable. Sujata Koirala married to a German national is the daughter of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala.
