Libya On Fire

Issue 09, February 27, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

February 20, 2011: it has been five days since Libyans have been demonstrating for bettering their lives, demanding fundamental human rights, education to their children, jobs to the people but what Libyan Leader Gaddafi has given them are the live bullets killing more than 200 people by today. Gaddafi is in no mood to give in to the demands of his fellow citizens but determined to crush them by his firepower. However, people have been even more emboldened rather than get frightened by the death of so many people within a few days.

Mubarak in Egypt has killed 300 people before quitting the presidential palace. We don’t know how many people will need to shed their blood before driving Gaddafi out of power remains to be seen. It is almost sure that Gaddafi needs to pack up because he will not be able to sustain his power simply killing unarmed people peacefully demonstrating to have their share in the national wealth Gaddafi has been squandering the revenue he receives from the oil resources of the nation.

The security forces of Gaddafi have opened fire Sunday on the people attending the funeral of the people killed on Saturday, and quickly disbursed the mourners in the suburbs of Tripoli: capital of Libya.

Gaddafi has cut off the telephones and other electronic communications media and prevented any foreign media persons entering Libya for fear of reporting the events in Libya. The state-run Libyan television has shown only the pro-Gaddafi demonstration not giving even a slight hint of the anti-government demonstrations.
