Completing Army Integration For Peace

April 7, 2012: Seven teams of the Army Integration Special Committee secretariat have left Kathmandu on Friday, April 06 for the concerned cantonments to give the last option to the combatants for choosing voluntary retirement instead of integration they have already chosen, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

Coordinator of AISC Secretariat Balananda Sharma told ‘The Rising Nepal’ that seven teams left Kathmandu for the seven main cantonments and other satellite cantonments to collect the names of the combatants willing to retire voluntarily and to remain for integration to reduce the number of combatants opting for integration to 6,500 from 9000 to tally with the number agreed on the seven-point deal.

The AISC will send 6,500 combatants to different barracks of the Nepal Army by April 12 and the rest opting for voluntary retirement home vacating the cantonment by the same deadline, said Coordinator of AISC Secretariat Balananda Sharma.

The AISC and the top leaders of the major parties will hold a meeting on Sunday, April 8, 2012 to set the standard of integration, ranks of the combatants, structure of the general directorate for integrating the combatants, according to Coordinator of AISC Secretariat Balananda Sharma.
