Protect Lumbini: Birthplace Of Lord Buddha Say Archaeologists And Journalists

March 26, 2012: A team of archaeologists and journalists visited Lumbini: the birthplace of the Gautam Buddha and the historical, cultural and religious sites for their field study, and come up with the recommendations for security of the Mayadevi Temple and its vicinity, museum, Niglihawa, Aurakot, Ramgram, Devdaha, Sisniya, Gotihawa, Kudan, Tilaurakota, and others, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of March 25, 2012 writes.
The study team has visited the area following the request of the Ministry of Federal Affairs, Constituent Assembly, Parliamentary Affairs and Culture. The team has found that the locals and local security bodies have been concerned with the challenges of keeping the places of excavation and archaeologically important areas safe although CCTVs are set at the Mayadevi Temple and its vicinity, museum, Niglihawa, Aurakot, Ramgram, Devdaha, Sisniya, Gotihawa, Kudan, Tilaurakota, and others, and the Lumbini Development Trust has mobilized 47 security guards for the protection of the Mayadevi Temple. The government has set even a camp of the Armed Police Force on the precincts of Lumbini for two years according to the news on ‘The Rising Nepal’ of yesterday.
