FDF And Four-party Political Mechanism Reached A deal

August 16, 2013: The Federal Democratic Front (FDF) and the four-party political mechanism have reached a six-point agreement, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’ of today.

 

On behalf of the four-party political mechanism, leader of UCPN-Maoist Narayankaji Shrestha, and on behalf of the FDF, spokesman for FDF Parsuram Tamang signed off the deal in presence of Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda, President of NC Sushil Koirala, Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal, and Coordinator of UDMF Bijya Gacchedar.

 

Following the deal, the FDF will take part in the elections scheduled for November 19, 2013; the FDF will be included in the four-party political mechanism; the number of members of the CA will be increased from 491 to 585. Two hundred forty members will be directly elected; 335 members will be elected by the proportional representation; and the council of ministers will nominate 10 members. Shape and size of constituencies will remain the same. They will request the Election Commission to reopen the registration of voters for two weeks. They also will urge the Interim Election Council of Ministers, and the president to enforce the agreement.
