UN Under Secretary-General Jeffrey D Feltman In Kathmandu

March 20, 2013: United Nations Under Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey D Feltman arrived in Kathmandu yesterday evening for a three-day official visit to Nepal. Speaking to the reporters upon arrival at the international airport in Kathmandu, Under Secretary-General Feltman said that he was very happy to see the formation of the Interim Election government, and the UN was committed to assist Nepal in holding elections, according to the ‘gorkhapatra’ news of today.

Under Secretary-General Feltman also said that he came to Nepal as the representative of UN Secretary-General Ban-ki-Moon to study the political situation in Nepal after the formation of the Interim Election Council. He also said the he would focus on how the UN could help Nepal in completing the peace process.

During his three-day stay in Nepal, Under Secretary-General Feltman would met with the head of state, chairman of the IEC, foreign minister, leaders of the major political parties, and heads of the diplomatic missions in Nepal, according to the news in the ’gorkhapatra’ of today.
