Voices Against Rise in Prices of Petroleum Products

Issue 24, June 15, 2008

By KTM Reporter in Kathmandu

Some members of the Constituent Assembly voiced against the rise in the prices of petroleum products. For their political gains, it might be all right but for the practical purposes it was almost stupid thing to do so, as Nepalis had already suffered enough during the last two-year term of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala from the shortage of petroleum products and the Nepalese economy had suffered quite a lot. Those Constituent Assembly members voicing against the price rise either needed to be able to make available petroleum products as required by the people or needed to shut up rather than talking such nonsense thing when the international market price of crude oil has reached almost US$140 per barrel.
