Tripartite Agreement On A New Government

March 24, 2011: Chairmen of three parties such as UCPN-Maoist, CPN-UML and MRPF-Nepal reached a deal on forming a consensus government at a meeting held at the official residence of Prime Minister in Baluwatar yesterday, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes. They have agreed on enforcing the 22-point agreement reached with the MPRF and the eight-point agreement with United Democratic Madhesi Front and set up provincial states including Madhesh Province with the rights to self-determination for maintaining sovereignty, unity and national integrity of Nepal.

Following the deal, the MPRF-Nepal is to join the current government soon but they have not decided yet what portfolio the MPRF-Nepal will hold.

After the UCPN-Maoist and CPN-UML have agreed on the issues concerning a new constitution, peace process and Madhesh, MPRF-Nepal has decided to join the coalition government. They have also agreed on formulating a common minimum program, setting up a high-level political mechanism of the coalition partners and sharing the ministerial portfolios.
