Expressing Views By Different Nepalese Politicians

June 24, 2012: Speaking at a function held by the NGO Federation-Nepal yesterday senior leader of NC Sher Bahadur Deuba said that the Maoists were not honest to promulgate a new constitution and they dissolved the CA with the ill intention of capturing the state power; holding new elections without a political consensus was impossible; the government should create an environment conducive to a political consensus to end the ongoing constitutional, legal and political crisis.
Speaking at the meeting of the CPN-UML Liaison Special Coordination Committee held at the Balkhu party headquarters yesterday, Chairman of CPN-UML and former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal yesterday said that the current coalition of the Maoists and Madhesi alliance was sticking to the power with the intention of imposing a dictatorship in the country; the coalition was determined to go ahead with an totalitarian manner after dissolving the CA inviting political and constitutional crisis; the government would be forced to come to an agreement with the opposition through street demonstrations.
Talking to the reporters in Damak yesterday, senior leader of CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal said that political consensus would not be forged until Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai stepped down and consensus politics would not be started until the resignation of the Prime Minister; street protests were essential to end the current political crisis; the Maoists and the prime minister were trying to capture the state power by creating a constitutional vacuum.
Taking to reporters at Birtamod yesterday, General Secretary of NC Krishna Prasad Sitaula Saturday said that the UCPN-Maoist had hinted at paving the way for the formation of a national unity government; Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda had assured the parties of paving the way for a national consensus government; if the Maoists honestly quit the government, the new consensus government would be formed under the NC leadership; however, leading a new consensus government was not his party’s priority; the NC was taking to the streets against the Maoists and the government to save democracy and prevent the country from falling prey to dictatorship. Speaking at the district level Muslim gathering held by the Madhesi Muslim Forum Nepal (Loktantrik) in Nepalgunj today, Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gacchedar said that the government declared fresh elections to a CA so that there would be no constitutional void in the country after it was sure that the CA would be dissolved; the government declared the elections for fresh mandate to stop political encounters in the country; no any alternative to all the political parties other than to agree on a constitution based on ethnic identity was available for establishing rights of the backward communities including ethnic groups, Muslims, Madhesis, Dalits, Tharu and indigenous nationalities, ‘The Himalayan Times’ of today reports.
