Punishing Corrupt Official In Nepal

January 10, 2013: hearing on the misappropriation case filed by the Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA), a division bench of Chief Justice Khila Raj Regmi and Justice Sushila Karki of the Supreme Court of Nepal yesterday convicted Yuvaraj Sharma, former director general of Nepal Oil Corporation, of amassing property not proportional to his earnings, and sentenced him to jail for a year, and ruled to confiscate his illegally earned property, according to THT ONLINE news of yesterday.

Three former NC minister and some high-ranking officials have been serving the jail term and their illegally earned property got confiscated. The three former ministers are Khum Bahadur Khadka, Govinda Raj Joshi, and Jayaprakash Prasad Gupta. Now Karki is joining in the company of the corrupt officials in the Kathmandu jail.
