Prachanda Says His Party Will Act Responsibly

Issue 36, September 05, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

September 1, 2010: speaking to the office-bearers of Parliamentary Reporters’ Society at his residence, Nayabazar, Kathmandu today, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has said that his party as the largest party in the legislature will focus on breaking the current political deadlock doing something new before the next round of prime ministerial election, ‘The Himalayan Times’ online reports.

The legislature has failed in electing a new Prime Minister even in the fifth round of election held on August 23, 2010 after the resignation of Prime Minister Madhav Nepal on June 30, 2010 apparently for electing a new Prime Minister following the consensus politics.

Prachanda has put blame on the two major political parties such as NC and CPN-UML for not building a consensus on electing a new Prime Minister. He has been saying that he is ready to pull out of the contest for a Prime Minister if the NC candidate for a Prime Minister does the same.
