By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

Residents of of Guphapokhari, Sukepokhari, Dandakharka and Jorpokhari villages in the Sankhuwasabha district said that the Election Commission violated its own decision setting up only one polling booth for 2,200 voters of the Nundhiki Village Development Area as opposed to the decision on setting up one polling booth for every 1,000 voters for voting in the election for a constituent assembly to be held on April 10, 2008 ‘The Himalayan Times’ reported on March 24, 2008. As a result, the voters would need to walk for four hours to reach the polling booth, and then another four hour to go home. So, they decided to boycott the voting. The district election office has decided on setting up one polling booth for each 1,000 voters in this remote district; however, the election office is set to put up only one polling booth for 2,200 voters of the Nundhiki.
