March 6, 2012: Speaking at a meeting of the Fundamental Right Committee of the Constituent Assembly (CA) at Singha Durbar in Kathmandu yesterday, Chairman of CA Subash Nembang has said that he is hopeful of having the new constitution promulgated by the May 27 deadline, as the work on the writing of the constitution has been moving ahead; however, he also has warned of missing the deadline if the leaders of the political parties fail in keeping the pace of the work on the constitution writing, ‘The Rising Nepal’.

Chairman of CA Nembang has said that the foundation of the new constitution has been laid and its promulgation will be smooth if the political parties meet the commitments they have made to the people.

Nembang also has said that CA members have completed their work on the constitution writing; only the political leaders and their parties have to resolve the contentious issues such as state restructuring, form of governance, election system and citizenships; people need to put up pressure on the political parties for speedy constitution writing.

Opening the fifth convention of Sripurraj Community Development Center in Rajbiraj yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Gacchedhar holding the portfolio of Home Affairs has said that the work on the peace process and constitution writing would be done within the deadline, as the government is fully committed to completing the twin tasks by May 27, 2012; he has explained that the UDMF has joined the current coalition government with the objective of completing the peace process and the constitution writing within the deadline, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

The Deputy Prime Minister also has said that the process of democratization of the Nepal Army has begun recruiting soldiers from the Madheshi, dalits and indigenous minorities.

The Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) also has participated in the party-activist-meeting event held by the Madheshi People’s Rights Forum-Democratic Saptari; however, the cadres holding the event that DPM Gacchedhar have attended roughed up some officials of the district post office for refusing to give money for holding the event; the victims have demanded the government take strong actions against those culprits; however, District Chairman of Madheshi People’s Rights Forum-Democratic Sailesh Kumar Chaudhary has said that only a minor argument has been between the district post office officials and the cadres when they went to the office for petrol (District Post Office does not sell petrol), ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
