Pre-budget Government Policies And Programs

Issue 25, June 20, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

June 16, 2010: the Madhav government prepares to present its annual policies and programs to the legislature by June 29, 2010. It is customary to do so before presenting an annual budget to the legislature.

However, it would not be possible to pass the government policies and programs without the support of the UCPN-Maoist: the largest party in the legislature. Even if the Madhav government passes the policies and programs then the budget for the fiscal year 2010 (2067), it won’t be democratic.

The so-called consensus politics that every political leader seems to give great importance has been elusive as most of the leaders really don’t want the consensus politics rather hang on to whatever power they have got without considering the possible adverse impact on their future political fortune.

The NC and CPN-UML have the tendency of continuing the current status quo of not completing the peace process and the writing of a new constitution sideling the UCPN-Maoist or even forcing it to take the political issues to the streets. The NC and CPN-UML leaders are having comfortable political benefits, as the UCPN-Maoist leaders have no alternative but to remain in the verbal attacks on them practically making no effect on the most immoral Madhav government supported by the unscrupulous politicians.
