Compensation for the Loss of Loved Ones

The Government of Nepal has sanctioned 48 million rupees for paying compensation to the families for the loss of their loved ones killed during protests and riots in the Terai region. The Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction said that the government made available this amount of money to the concerned district administration offices for paying compensation to the families of the 48 victims. Families of the victims would receive one million rupees for each person killed. The killed were 18 cadres of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum, two Janajatis, one of Chure-Bhawar Ekta Samaj and 27 cadres of the Maoists. The ministry said that the concerned district offices would immediately disburse the money to the families of the victims.
