Fiery Reactions To Sujata’s Referendum On Federalism

Issue 02, January 10, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On January 5, 2010, legislators have strongly reacted to the public statement of Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala on the need for a referendum on federalism. Speaking at the legislature, most of the legislators particularly to the Madheshi political parties belonging to the current coalition government, and the opposition Maoist party have demanded the government firing Sujata Koirala from the position of Deputy Prime Minister for saying the need for a referendum on federalism going against the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007.

However, legislators flourishing on the resources looted by the 240-year of the Shah dynastic rulers have supported her stand on the federalism. True and sincere Nepalis would never forgive such legislators advocating for going against the people’s aspirations for federalism. Federalism will be the only element that will bind all Nepalis together to a strong and prosperous new Nepal.
