August 28, 2013: Immigration officials at the international airport stopped about 200 Nepalis from going abroad stating they did not understand the visa written in other languages other than Nepali and English on Saturday, August 25, 2013; the manpower companies vigorously objected the immigration officials stating they could submit translated version of the visa if they were told in time but the immigration officials used their discretionary power to return the Nepalese laborers from the airport causing loss to the laborers and the manpower companies, too, according to the news on ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

 

Gaur Customs Office was closed in Rautahat for the second day yesterday protesting against the alleged police intervention in the custom office activities. Custom officials have accused the security forces of unnecessarily troubling traders. The Custom officials allowed a loaded truck to pass the border after necessary checking on Monday, August 26, 2013. But the security personnel stopped the vehicle of the Shivam Scrap Traders based in Gaur and again checked stating the police have the information on the vehicle carrying illegal goods, according to the RSS news posted on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.

 

Commission on Investigation into Abuse of authority (CIAA) has arrested two immigration officials from the international airport in Kathmandu on the charge of collecting money irregularly a few days ago, and after the investigation, CIAA has filed a case against the two immigration officials at the Special Court that has released them on bail. Any officials arrested by CIAA on charges of irregularity get automatically suspended from the job until the court case is completed.
