By KTM Metro Reporter
May 28, 2011: Speaking at a review meeting of the revenue collection held by the ministry of finance at its office yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari holding the portfolio of the Minister for Finance has told the revenue officials to accord a top priority to the actions against those people involved in faking VAT bills, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
As soon as Mr. Adhikari took the office of the Ministry of Finance, he proposed to pardon those people faking the VAT bills but the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance refused to do so rather quit the office in protest.
Then, Mr. Adhikari went to seize some of the Casino operators in Kathmandu on the pretext of recovering the unpaid fees but actually for grabbing some money if possible as in the case of pardoning the VAT-bill fakers. However, Mr. Adhikari did not succeed in this case, too.
Currently, Mr. Adhikari is making money causing the shortage of petroleum products in the regular market but selling the petroleum products in a parallel market at high prices.
