Yet Another Heinous Crime Of Killing A Justice In Kathmandu

May 31, 2012: Supreme Court Justice Rana Bahadur Bam was on the way to work at the Supreme Court of Nepal after visiting Baglamukhi Temple in Patan when two assailants on a motorbike shot the justice several rounds of bullets injuring the bodyguard and a fellow passenger today but saving the driver. All three injured rushed to the nearby Norvic private hospital. Doctors said that they could not save Justice Bam because of the heavy bleeding before coming to treatment at the hospital. Other two injured persons are doing well at the same hospital.

Police have put the security on alert at all the checkpoints in Kathmandu and have been searching for the motorbike and culprits.

Masked assailants had stopped the car the justice was riding on before opening fire at a close range. Assailants must have followed him from the Bagalamukhi temple he had visited every Thursday morning. The Police have taken the driver under custody for investigation into the case.

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi and Home Minister Bijaya Gacchedar visited Justice Bam at the Norvic hospital; the prime minister told reporters at the hospital that he ordered the security officials to bring the assailants to justice, according to the news on nepalnews.com.
