TMDP Pulling Out Its Ministers From Madhav Government

Issue 02, January 09, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

January 7, 2011: officiating Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has refused to fire the two ministers belonging to Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party (TMDP) that has requested the prime minister for firing them for splitting the party and forming a new one. Non-compliance to the request of the leaders of TMDP has proved that the accusations made by the leaders of TMDP of the prime minister and his party have engineered the split of TMDP are true.

The next step leaders of the TMDP have taken is to recall other ministers belonging to TMDP in the Madhav government as the protest against Madhav Nepal splitting the party and then not honoring the request of the TMDP for firing the rebellious members of the TMDP in the government.

Speaking to the reporters, Vice-chairman of TMDP Hridayesh Tripathi has said that the central working committee (CWC) of his party at a meeting held today has decided to recall its four ministers from the Madhav government for not responding to its request for firing Minister for Industry Mahendra Prasad Yadav and Minister of State for Industry Dan Bahadur Chaudhary for breaking away from the party on December 31, 2010 and setting up a new party.

The cabinet ministers to be recalled are Minister for Education Sarbendra Nath Sukla and Minister for Youth and Sports Ganesh Nepali, Minister of State for Education Govinda Chaudhary and Assistant Minister for Youth and Sport Chanda Chaudhary from the officiating Madhav government.

Minister for Industry Mahendra Prasad Yadav and Minister of State for Industry Dan Bahadur Chaudhary along with other seven legislators have broken away from the TMDP and have set up a new party called Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party-Nepal (TMDP-Nepal) alleging the TMDP leadership has been making decisions undemocratically.

Leader of TMDP-Nepal Mahendra Yadav has said that his colleague and he are staying on in the Madhav government no matter what happens to others, as his party has secured the status of an independent party.
