CPN-UML Legislators Accuse PM And FM Of Ignoring PP

November 19, 2010: speaking at the parliamentary party (PP) meeting held to discuss the budget on November 18, 2010, CPN-UML legislators have seriously objected Officiating Prime Minister Madhav Nepal sidelining the legislators and making decisions on programs and policies unilaterally, and the budget has been put forward without discussing with the PP members even though both Prime Minister and Finance Minister are of the CPN-UML in the coalition government, nepalnews.com writes quoting the CPN-UNML legislator Rabindra Adhikari.

At the same time, in the same meeting, CPN-UML legislators have criticized officiating Finance Minister Surendra Pandey for failing to hold discussion on budget with the PP members before bringing it to the PP meeting for discussion; most of the legislators have not been happy with the officiating Finance Minister for not allocating proportionate development funds to the constituencies, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of November 19, 2010 writes.

Speaking at the House Committee on Labor and Economic Relations on November 18, 2010, officiating Finance Minister Surendra Pandey has said that the provisions for providing the health insurance to the people living below the poverty line and for Non-Resident Nepalis buying shares are made in the budget of the fiscal year 2010 (2067), ‘The Rising Nepal’ of November 19, 2010 writes quoting the state news agency RSS.

Speaking at a press conference held by the District Working Committee of his party on November 18, 2010, Chairman of Tarai-Madhesh Democratic Party (TMDP) Mahanta Thakur has said that the Madheshi political parties will oppose the budget if it does not contain more than 20 per cent of the total budget for the welfare of Madheshis following the proportion of the Madheshi people in the population, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of November 19, 2010.
