Kathmandu-Hetauda Fast Track Highway

September 25, 2013: speaking at the first annual general meeting of the Nepal Infrastructures Development Company on Monday, September 23, 2013, the company chairman said that the company would start the construction of the Kathmandu-Hetauda Fast Track Highway on November 11, 2013, as it has built up a funding to the tune of Rs 5 billions enough for starting off the construction, according to the news in the ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.
This highway will shorten the distance between Kathmandu and Hetauda considerably, and travel to Hetauda will be of only two hours time; currently, it takes about eight hours to reach Hetauda. This highway will save time, fuel, and wear and tear of tires and engines of vehicles thus making billions of rupees worth of savings per year. The return on the investment in this highway will be from the tolls collected from the vehicles traveling this highway. This is the first project going to be built by the public-private partnership.
