Budget For FY 2012 Causes Controversy

July 6, 2012: President Ram Baran Yadav has suggested Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gacchedar at Shital Niwas today to build a political consensus on the budget for the FY 2012 and stated that presenting a full-fledged budget without reaching an understanding with the opposition would make political situation more complicated; DPM Gacchedar has gone to the head of state seeking his assistance in presenting the budget, as the state machinery will stop functioning with the budget, according to nepalnews.com.

Speaking to the delegation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) at his office today, Prime Minister Baburam Bhatttarai has said that the government would present the budget for the FY 2012 building a political consensus; talks are going on among the parties to this end. "The Prime Minister told us that the government would come up with a full budget. He also asked us to help forge understanding between the parties on the budget," NCC president Suresh Banset told reporters after the meeting, according to nepalnews.com.
