World Peace Torch On The Way To China

August 20, 2010: Nepalis have held a ceremony in Lumbini to light a ‘peace torch’ on August 19 for taking it to the Shanghai World Expo in China to publicize the birthplace of Lord Buddha is Lumbini in Nepal not elsewhere as other country has claimed and publicized, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of August 20, 2010 reports.

Buddhists from many countries including China have participated in the ceremony of lighting a peace torch on the Mayadevi temple premises in Lumbini, Bhairava. On this occasion, they have held a special prayer.

The peace torch is expected to arrive in Kathmandu via Damauli on Saturday, August 21; then the representative of Chinese government takes charge of it for taking to Shanghai on August 23. The torch will remain at China’s famous Longahwa Gumba until September 02 for public display and then it moves on to the Nepal Pavilion for marking the Nepal Pavilion Day on September 03, 2010 and publicizing the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha is Lumbini in Nepal.
