Indian Secretary to Foreign Ministry Nirupama Rao Leaves Nepal

On September 15, 2009, Indian Secretary to Foreign Ministry Nirupama Rao has held a preference in Kathmandu, speaking to the reporters she has said that her visit has been very successful, and has resolved 95% of the border problem; however, she has not mentioned anything about the remaining 5% of the border problem particularly India encroaching on the Nepalese territory and the Indian Border Security Force harassing the Nepalis living in the Nepal-India border areas. She left Nepal for India after completing her two-day Nepal visit.

She has not been successful to get the agreement on extradition of criminals signed. So, she has agreed to leave it for the future discussion between the Secretaries to the Home Ministries of both countries.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said that the battle against the Indian Maoists has been weakening, and they have been using the Nepalese and Bangladeshi territories for working against India.
